Will I teach yoga after doing my yoga teacher training course?

"Will I teach yoga after doing my yoga teacher training course?" seems like a funny question to ask on a blog dedicated to how to become a yoga instructor! Your intention for doing a yoga teacher training course doesn't have to be to become a teacher. My motivations aren't, they are simply to learn more about something that I love.

In the end. That said, I really won't know how I will feel by the end of the course until It’s er well finished. Way to state the obvious I know but I've heard that many people who enter the course with similar motivations to mine are super keen to teach by the end of it. Only time will tell, so let's see. Is it right for me? (Or left?) One thing is for certain if I do decide to teach I have to figure out my left from my right and to some extent my hands from my feet. I'm not joking, I am likely one of the most uncoordinated people you will ever meet. My one and only attendance at a Zumba class was too funny and following Cynthias directions into super soldier or bird of paradise took every ounce of my concentration. This left and right issue is a massive barrier (in my mind at least) to actually teaching. It's the biggest thing that makes me think I could never actually teach. I did realize the other day that this is only a problem for me if I'm following someone else's directions. During my own practice, I just practice. Verbally directing a flow to students while mirror demonstrating to them is, I think, way beyond what my brain is capable of though. If I taught in a place with an actual mirror then, I might have a fighting chance. Ready or not. For as many people that have told me that they were dying to teach at the end of their course, I had the same amount saying they didn't feel ready. Sharon was one of these, she took her time, learned more and deepened her own practice before deciding she was ready. Some teachers took another teacher training course too before feeling ready to teach. I can't imagine being able to absorb enough information in 4 weeks to be ready either. Listening to the teachers who I think are awesome, I wonder how I will ever feel good enough to teach but you do have to start somewhere. I have been a scuba instructor and know that taking the instructor course is the very beginning, you learn so much from teaching and progressing your own skills and knowledge. I guess I'll just see how I feel and take it from there.
